Nuclear Engineering Internships

Graduate and Undergraduate Student Internships broaden the education of students majoring in science, mathematics, engineering, technology, or other areas that support the mission of the Department of Energy’s Nuclear Energy Programs. These internships provide an intensive introduction to science and engineering careers through the guidance of experienced mentors at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL).

Eligibility

The program is open to those with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, who have completed their sophomore year and are currently enrolled as full-time students. All awards are contingent on approval by INL security for access. U.S. citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR) of the United States (Green Card) status is required. LPR students are required to submit a copy of their green card to the INL at the time the application is made. Each participant must have his or her own health insurance coverage before arriving at the appointment site.

Selection

Applicants will be reviewed on the basis of academic performance, career goals, recommendations, funding availablity, and compatibility of education interests and abilities with the needs of the INL.
