The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science funds the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program. SULI provides 10 week summer internships to undergraduate students in the areas of science, math, engineering, technology, and science policy. Each student is assigned to a Laboratory mentor in a specific area of research related to the student's interests and academic major.
The SULI program is designed to:
- provide a diverse group of highly motivated undergraduate students with direct access to laboratory equipment, facilities and staff through research experiences that are not generally available on campus;
- allow selected undergraduate students to collaborate with laboratory research programs and at the same time provide the students with educational experiences that encourage them to study and pursue careers in fields of interest to the DOE; and
- attract a large number of eligible applicants that are varied in gender, ethnicity, and economic background.
Program Duration: 10 weeks in the Summer
Summer Program: June to August
Salary: $400/week
Housing: $100/week for those who live greater than 50 miles from Idaho Falls
Travel: Round-trip travel to and from permanent residence or institution if greater than a 50 mile radius from Idaho Falls
