Idaho National Laboratory

Gamma-ray Spectrometry Center
IAEA Coordinated Research Program on Actinide Decay Data

Under the sponsorship of the U.S. Nuclear Data Program (USNDP), but organized separately, Dr. Richard Helmer has formed an international group to evaluate the decay data for about 250 radio nuclides that are of interest in various applications, especially those for which quantitative assay for nuclide content is done by -ray spectrometry. Procedures for the analysis of discrepant data and for the sources of supporting data (e.g., for theoretical internal-conversion coefficients) have been adopted. Each evaluation, when completed, will be reviewed by evaluators within the group. The evaluations will be prepared both in the form used earlier in the Table de Radioncléides, published by Laboratoire de Métrologie Rayonnements Ionisants, 1982-1987, and in the form for the Evaluated Nuclear Structure Data File (ENSDF). The results of the evaluations will be available from M. M. Bé at Laboratoire National Henri Becquerel or Dr. Helmer at the INL. These results will also be submitted to the Nuclear Data Section of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for possible inclusion in their database of decay data. The participants in this evaluation activity are M-M. Bé, LPRI, Frqance; E. Schönfeld, PTB, Germany; D. MacMahon, HMS Sultan, United Kingdom; V. G. Chechev, Khlopin Radium Institute, Russia and; J. K. Tuli, Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL); E. Browne Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL); and R. G. Helmer (INL), United States.
