The Process Science and Engineering for Energy Security Business Line (PSE) is a multidisciplinary endeavor that encompasses a number of technical areas across the Science and Technology Directorate and INL. PSE focuses on providing novel, state-of-the-art, integrated technical solutions to problems experienced by a diverse customer set in both government and industry. These problems encompass conventional energy production, energy production from renewable energies, industrial processing and synthesis of chemicals and other value-added products, processing of industrial wastes, and recovery and processing of natural resources.
PSE supports the following four areas in particular:
- Sustainable processes for making value-added products from wastes and other low value feedstocks
- Transitional energy systems
- Mining industry processes
- Processes for carbon dioxide sequestration and conversion.
